LINCOLNSHIRE REPRESENTATIVE SQUAD

In 2024, 10 players were selected to represent Lincolnshire in the inter-counties tournament. Coached by Russell and Helen, the team showed tremendous resilience, work ethic and team togetherness, with the highlight being a nail-biting 2-point victory against Derbyshire in the group stages. All of the players developed throughout the tournament and will benefit from the experience.

The event started against tournament favourites, Northamptonshire A. The team were getting used to the format and this played a large part in a difficult first game. Lincolnshire struggled to find space and were surprised with the aggressiveness of their opponents to win rebounds and drive at the basket. The game provided the opportunity to discuss the changes that we would need make before our second game against Leicestershire A, and the team delivered. A narrow 16-11 loss provided fresh optimism and a determination to compete in our next game. Game 3 saw us play Derbyshire A in a nail-biting close encounter. With numerous lead changes, Lincolnshire managed to edge to victory and claim their first win. Our final game was against Nottinghamshire A, and we matched them for much of the game. Nottinghamshire dominated the 4th quarter, resulting in Lincolnshire claiming 4th place in the pool. This led to the 4th place play-off against Nottinghamshire B. Despite a close first half, Nottinghamshire's aggressiveness and determined play saw them earn a 16-11 victory to earn 7th place overall.

Lincolnshire finished 8th overall and should be extremely proud of their performances. The team worked well together and supported one another throughout. Many of the games, especially against Leicestershire A, Derbyshire A and Nottinghamshire B were extremely close encounters, and this is even more impressive when you acknowledge that many of the players were playing in their first competitive games against opponents with National League experience. We're really proud of their resilience, determination and team togetherness.
